Aamir Khan has delivered yet another hit with Delhi Belly - the film has raked in Rs 26 crores in three days - and so celebration was obviously in store.

The success party was held at Taj Land's End, Bandra, in suburban Mumbai, and the entire cast showed up.

Aamir took center-stage as he thanked everyone for the film's success. "I am really happy, and the entire team is very happy," he said. "I am glad that the audience has loved the film and have enjoyed it so much."

Aamir claimed that Delhi Belly scriptwriter Akshat Varma had first written the script in 1996 but could not find any takers for it.

He tried to get in touch with Aamir, but had little success. Finally, he just dropped off a copy of the script at Aamir's residence.

Fortunately for him, the script landed up in Kiran Rao's hands. As she read it, she started laughing nonstop. That made the actor, who was in the same room, curious enough to go through the script himself.

A few hours later, Akshat - who was in the US at the time -- received a call from the actor. 48 hours later, he - along with his producer friend Jim Furgele - landed in Mumbai.

Aamir praised the film's protagonists -- Imran Khan, Kunaal Roy Kapoor and Vir Das - for their brilliant performance in the film.

He sarcastically added that he was not happy with Kunaal, as he had wanted to do his role himself but had to back out because he was working on 3 Idiots at the time.

"But I am happy I didn't do that role. I don't think I could have pulled it off like Kunaal did," Aamir said. " And because I didn't do it, I was able to do an item number and be Disco Fighter!" he laughed.

Aamir claimed Vir Das brought the house down, but it was nephew Imran's performance that he was very proud of. "Imran has given a flawless performance. He has grown tremendously as an actor," he said.

"I never thought the movie would become such a big hit," Imran, who was accompanied by his wife Avantika Malik, said. "When I signed the film, I knew it was unusual but I wanted to take the risk."

So what's the best compliment he has got? Imran claims it came from his mama Aamir. "He is very conservative with his compliments but after he saw Delhi Belly, he told me that I had done a fantastic job. He said there was no false note in my performance," Imran said.
