When the WHOLE world talked about Aishwarya and her baby!

When Aishwarya Rai Bachchan welcomed her baby girl in the world yesterday, it made a big splash in India and abroad.

Ash has the distinction of being the most recognisable Indian face on the global cinematic platform -- she first emerged on the international scene when she was invited to join the prestigious Cannes film festival jury in 2001.

Bigger things followed. She became a brand ambassador for cosmetics giant L'Oreal and signed films like The Pink Panther alongside Steve Martin and The Last Legion with Colin Firth.

Her Hollywood career didn't exactly pan out the way everybody had hoped and of late, her international appearances have shrunk to the annual Cannes visits as the L'Oreol brand ambassador.

So it was a bit of a surprise when news media all around the world wrote copious reports about the actress's delivery. While many termed her 'Bollywood Royalty', one particular publication made an astute observation -- Bachchan baby is a Scorpion, like her mom!

Wall Street Journal, like everybody else, got a tip off from Abhishek's tweet when he announced through his Twitter handle that Aishwarya had delivered a baby girl.

While the writeup talked about rife speculation in Indian media about the baby's name, horoscope and the bookies, it also described what will be in store for the baby.

The article read, 'Born in the upper echelons of Bollywood aristocracy, the youngest Bachchan has quite a pedigree to live up to. Although she is not even a day old, many are undoubtedly already expecting her to follow in the footsteps of her parents and grandparents.'

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) christened the baby girl as 'Bollywood's new royal princess' and said that the baby is 'destined' for a career in films.

They wrote, 'She might only be in the first week of her life, but being born into Bollywood royalty gives her a head start like no other. Her mother is Aishwarya Rai, the face of L'Oreal, a former Miss World, who has starred in a number of Bollywood films. Her father is Abhishek Bachchan, a Bollywood actor who is rarely far from the front pages of magazines.'

The 'boisterous' Indian media had given some much needed privacy to the Bachchans in the days leading up to the delivery, Washington Post observed in it's report.

The article said, 'India's boisterous news channels were unusually respectful of the family's privacy after an industry group issued new guidelines instructing television journalists to cover the birth announcement with restraint. According to news reports, the Broadcast Editors Association issued the guidelines last week.'

AFP described Ash and Abhishek as the 'golden couple' and Bachchans as Bollywood's 'royal family' as they reported about the delivery.

They gave a lowdown on how Indian media dealt with the event, 'Media coverage of the event was muted even though Rai Bachchan and her husband are top stars and, along with Amitabh and his actress wife Jaya, are considered to be Bollywood's 'royal family'.

'Bachchan senior -- a compulsive blogger and tweeter -- has had a prickly relationship with the media in the past and has criticised outlets that misrepresent him or intrude on his family's privacy.'
