Young actor Tarun's new Kannada film Seena directed by debutant Basavaraja Bellary does not appeal at all. And here's why.
Bellary feels that the ends are more important than the means. So in Seena, the killing of hundreds of people by the hero is justified for it was done to save an orphanage.
The bizarre story starts when the film's protagonist Seena opens an orphanage to protect street children and other destitutes in memory of his lover.
So, how does he get the children into the orphanage? He kidnaps them from the streets. And how does he accumulate funds for such a project? By ruthlessly killing 'bad' people.
What happens to Seena in the end forms an absurd climax.
Performance-wise, young Tarun comes a cropper in his first action role. But he is good in the song and dance sequences. Priyanka is much better, while the other heroine Anthara Reddy is okay. Ramesh Bhat and Neenasam Aswath just fill the bill. Simran Khan appears in an item number.
Technically, the film is sound. Jagadish Waali has done a superb work behind the camera.
All in all, Seena is a listless film.
