Kannada film, Snehaanaa Preethinaa is a faithful adaptation of Indra Kumar's Ishq, starring Amir Khan, Ajay Devgan, Kajol and Juhi Chawla.
Real life friends Darshan and Audithya, known for their action films, are the heroes in this remake.
Other than some small cosmetic changes, director Shinde has not shown any originality. Despite rich presentation, Snehaanaa Preethinaa fails to make a big impact mainly because of this.
Soorya and Sindhu live in slums, but Aadi is from a rich background. Despite this, Soorya and Aadi become firm friends. Meanwhile, Sindhu's friend, Lakshmi is also born to a rich family and her father like Adi's father, is venomous towards poor people.
Soorya falls for Lakshmi while Aadi is attracted to Sindhu. The young lovers decide to marry and surprisingly, they even get the nod of their parents. However, there is a twist in the tale.
Darshan rocks in the film, and Aadithya is a revelation. Darshan, who had done a little bit of comedy in Datta, is much better in this film and is a clear winner. Aadithya is good in the sentimental sequences. Both Rangayana Raghu and Rajeev overact in their respective roles while Lakshmi Rai is still to learn the basics of acting despite acting in all the South Indian languages. Sindhu Tholani is wasted in the film.
Photography by producer Anaji Nagaraj is good while Harikrishna's music is ordinary. Nothing exceptional could be said of the other technical aspects of the film.
After all said and done, Snehaanaa Preethinaa is made enjoyable only by Darshan's comical transformation followed by Aadithya's adequate support.
