Kannada film Meravanige by Mahesh Babu can be described as a romantic action thriller which stands out for its distinct narrative style. Despite many negative points, Meravanige appeals largely because of it's lively and engaging moments that mixes well with the story.
The film stars young Prajwal and fresh-face Andrita Ray in the lead, who are able to make a mark effectively. And credit for this goes to Mahesh Babu.
However the pace of the film staggers in a few places, and there is inconsistency too. The film moves in a faster pace in the first half, but as soon as the story shifts to the forests, the film's narration takes a slower pace.
Vijay, the son of Prakash, a police officer is a naughty and irresponsible youngster who resorts to kidnapping to get the commerce question paper from his teacher. He has a strong dislike for Nandini, his classmate. Nandini is the daughter of the DCP. After a series of misunderstandings they fall in love.
Prajwal has shown a lot of improvement in this film. New face Andrita Ray proves that she is a good actress as well as dancer.
Ravi Kale, Bhanuchandar, Avinash pass muster in their roles. Sadhu Kokila and Komal as usual are very good in the comedy roles. Ramya makes a brief appearance in the film in a guest role.
V Manohar has done well to compose three good songs and deliver perfect background music for the film. Nannolave song is sure to top the charts. Patangavaagi song tunes are lifted from the Bollywood film Dilwaale Dunhaniya
The verdict? Watch Meravanige for its freshness and visuals.
