Tamil film Police Quarters or Kaval Kudiyiruppu marks the return of Cyanide director AMR Ramesh to realistic movies. But the film fails to make a big impact because it does not have enough incidents for a credible realistic presentation.
Police Quarters has a good technical crew and new talent Aneesh Tejeshwar looks very confident on screen. Yet, Police Quarters is only good in parts.
The film starts with promising sequences when the close relationship between two constables is narrated. As the film moves on, the narration loses its grip. The second half also has repetitive sequences.
The story revolves around Ashwin and Anita, two youngsters who detest each other. While Anita is studious and well groomed, Ashwin is like a vagabond. Love blossoms between them after an incident during the Babri Masjid riots in 1992.
Anita wants to elope with Ashwin when her marriage gets fixed with somebody else but Ashwin refuses. Anita is finally married but Ashwin remains untraced even 12 years after her marriage.
Aneesh Tejeshwar shows promise. But he should improve his emoting expressions.
Sonu looks cute and delivers a decent performance. Dileep comes up with a good performance as Raja.
Veteran artists Avinash, Sharanya sleep walk through their roles.
The camera work is good. James Vasnthan's music is above average.
Police Quarters could have been a better film.
