Terminator Salvation

This 2009 science fiction sequel was directed by McG and starred Christian Bale and Sam Worthington in lead roles.

Departing from the time travelling premise of the franchise, this one was set in 2018 and focussed on the fight between Skynet and humanity.

And here's where it all began.

The first Terminator film came out in 1984, and had Schwarzenegger play the title role. He was the Terminator, a cyborg assassin sent back in time from the year 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor, played by Hamilton, whose son would one day become a savior against machines in a post-apocalyptic future.
