Bollywood actors are offered numerous movie scripts.
They take on some, and refuse the rest, which then get passed on to other actors.
For instance, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was offered an item song in Goliyon Ki Raaslila Ram Leela which she let go of.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Goliyon Ki Raaslila Ram Leela
Sanjay Bhansali was keen on getting his favourite actress on board for the item song in Goliyon Ki Raaslila Ram Leela.
But when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan heard the song lyrics, 'Thappad se darr nahin lagta pyar se,' she fled. (For the uninitiated, that's a popular line from Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg).
Aishwarya was replaced by Priyanka Chopra, and ironically, the lyrics were also changed.
Deepika Padukone, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
Deepika was Sooraj Barjatya's first choice for his royal film.
To the director's credit, he pursued his muse relentlessly but Dips simply couldn't manage the dates.
Some say she couldn't connect with her role.
Sonam Kapoor played the part eventually.
Parineeti Chopra, Piku
Director Shoojit Sircar went to Parineeti Chopra to play the Big B's daughter in Piku.
But PC argued she was already doing a father-daughter film Daawat-e-Ishq. So Sircar rang Deepika's doorbell.
Daawat-e-Ishq bombed but Piku became a big hit.
Ranbir Kapoor, Goliyon Ki Raaslila Ram Leela
Ranbir Kapoor was supposed to do Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela while Ranveer Singh had been finalised for Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet.
Kashyap replaced Ranveer with Ranbir overnight, without even informing the former.
Ranveer was cast in Ram Leela.
And we all know who regretted the decision the most!
Freida Pinto, NH 10
Freida was all set to make her Bollywood debut with Navdeep Singh's gritty thriller, NH 10.
The actress was keen, but wanted some changes in the script.
The makers said no, and got Anushka Sharma on board.
NH 10 launched Anushka's career as a producer.
