When are the BIG movies releasing?

The floodgates seem to have opened for Bollywood at the theatres.

After Yash Raj Films announced its slate of films for 2021, many other film-makers went ahead and confirmed the release dates for their movies as well.

Joginder Tuteja looks at the upcoming films and their release dates.

 

Saina
Release date: March 26

It's a busy month for Parineeti Chopra.

After her Netflix film The Girl On The Train, we'll see her much-delayed Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar coming up for release on March 19.

Then, there is her sports film Saina, releasing on March 26.

Based on badminton ace Saina Nehwal's life, it has been written and directed by Amole Gupte.

 

Bell Bottom
Release date: May 28

Akshay Kumar did not have a theatrical release last year, but in 2021, he has lined up four films already.

Bell Bottom will be his second theatrical release after Rohit Shetty's em>Sooryavanshi.

Produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh, the film was shot in Scotland during the lockdown.

 

Thalaivi
Release date: April 23

Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi will arrive in April.

The film was slated for release last summer but thanks to the pandemic, it got pushed ahead.

Directed by A L Vijay, the film also stars Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta, Madhoo, Poorna and Bhagyashree.

 

Chehre
Release date: April 30

Amitabh Bachchan leads the show in Rumy Jaffrey's suspense thriller, Chehre.

It will be Emraan Hashmi's second release this year after Sanjay Gupta's Mumbai Saga.

The film will be Rhea Chakraborty's comeback to the movies after the public trauma she underwent after boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput's death by suicide last year.

 

'83
Release date: June 4

It's been a year long wait for '83, but it will finally arrive this summer.

The Kabir Khan directed film has been waiting patiently to arrive in theatres since last year.

The Ranveer Singh starrer is a sports saga and for Reliance Entertainment, Nadiadwala Grandsons and Phantom Films, and a big ticket item for audiences across age groups.

 

Jhund
Release date: June 18

Sairat Director Nagraj Popatrao Manjule is ready with his Amitabh Bachchan-starrer, Jhund.

At one point in time, it was rumoured that the film would release directly on OTT.

But it's all set for a June theatrical release.

 

Shershaah
Release date: July 2

Shershaah is Sidharth Malhotra's labour of love, as he has lived with the script for a really long time.

With Karan Johar coming on board for this Vikram Batra biopic, it has become bigger.

 

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui
Release date: July 9

Ayushmann Khurranna was last seen in his OTT debut, Gulabo Sitabo.

Now he returns to the theatres with Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui where he has Vaani Kapoor for company.

Abhishek Kapoor returns as director after Kedarnath with this romcom with an offbeat subject.

 

Radhe Shyam
Release date: July 30

The makers of Prabhas' Radhe Shyam -- a bilingual in Telugu and Hindi -- announced the release date for the romantic drama on Valentine's Day.

The film, co-starring Pooja Hegde, will see a major clash at the box office with...

 

Gangubai Kathiawadi
Release date: July 30

Just the teaser of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has created a massive impact and it can be rest assured that there would be a lot of dhamaka in store once the promotions of Gangubai Kathiawadi begin.

While this is all set to be a yet another career defining role for Alia Bhatt, there's a lot of curiosity for Ajay Devgn's special appearance.

 

Atrangi Re
Release date: August 6

While Akshay Kumar's towering presence makes Atrangi Re really big, there is a strong south connection here as well with Dhanush returning with his Raanjhanaa Director, Aanand L Rai.

Sara Ali Khan gets into a romantic avatar yet again.

 

Attack
Release date: August 13

John Abraham had announced the release date of his Satyameva Jayate 2& on Eid a while ago.

Now, his next film Attack gets a release date on the Independence Day weekend.

Poetic justice, really, since the film was originally planned for release on the same weekend in 2020.

 

Bhoot Police
Release date: September 10

Last Diwali, the entire Bhoot Police team was shooting in Himachal Pradesh.

The makers hope to release it on Ganesh Chathurthi this year.

After Go Goa Gone, Saif Ali Khan gets into the horror comedy genre once again with Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam.

 

The Battle Of Bhima Koregaon
Release date: September 17

We will see a lot of Arjun Rampal in 2021.

It started with Nail Polish, and he has already wrapped up Abbas-Mustan's Penthouse.

He's also been shooting for Dhaakad.

Then, he will be seen in the historical The Battle Of Bhima Koregaon, which was fought by the Peshwas's army against the East India Company's soldiers in 1818. Sunny Leone co-stars with him.

 

Anek
Release date: September 17

Ayushmann Khurranna and Anubhav Sinha have busy shooting Anek in the north east.

Actor and director delivered a must watch film in Article 15, and one has high expectations from Anek where Ayushmann plays a spy.

 

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
Release date: November 19

After a long wait, the release date of Kartik Aaryan's horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has been announced.

Directed by Anees Bazmee, the wait may just be worth it.

Kartik's Dhamaka will arrive earlier.

Release date: March 18 2022

Ranbir Kapoor's romcom with Shraddha Kapoor will arrive next Holi.

It has been a while since one saw Director Luv Ranjan in action as his Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety -- a Rs 100 crore club blockbuster -- had released in 2018.
