What makes Salman Khan so special

February 26, 2015 13:35 IST

Salman KhanSalman Khan may have a 'bad boy' image off camera, but recently, he showed off an endearing facet of his personality.

It all happened on the sets of his film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, located in the erstwhile princely state of Gondal, 40 km from Rajkot in Gujarat.

The film unit has camped in Gondal for the last several days and the shoot has been going on at its Riverside Palace, where part of Sanjay Leela Bhanshali’s blockbuster Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was also shot. Crowds of people gather at this venue everyday for a glimpse of their idol.

On Tuesday morning, Rafiq Mandalia and his wife Shabana, who live in Gondal’s underdeveloped Bhagwat Para and work as labourers, took their handicapped daughter Maahin to the Riverside Palace, hoping to meet the superstar.

On his arrival to the venue, Salman asked his driver to stop the vehicle, when he noticed the little girl. He then invited the family inside the royal palace.

Inside, Salman, lifted Maahin in his arms and showered her with love. He inquired of Maahin’s parents about the circumstances she had become handicapped.

Salman asked the family to spend the day inside the Riverside Palace and enjoy the shoot. He arranged refreshments and lunch for his "special guests" too.

The actor did not stop at that.

He later asked his driver to buy a small battery-driven car, which he gifted to a “delighted” Maahin.

“We had heard many stories of Salman Khan’s kindness and generosity, but today we had a firsthand experience of his compassionate nature,” the couple said. “We’ll never forget Salman’s love and his priceless gift to our darling daughter till our last breath."
