Photographers waiting outside the restaurant to shoot the Kundras were pounced upon by the bouncers and beaten black and blue.
Press photographers assembled outside a restaurant in suburban Mumbai to shoot photographs of actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra on Thursday night were beaten up by bouncers hired by the restaurant once the star couple had made their exit.
The incident occurred at the Bastian restaurant in Bandra, north west Mumbai, around 11.30 pm on Thursday, September 7.
Photographers Robin Chawla and Himanshu Shinde, who were waiting outside the restaurant to shoot the Kundras, were pounced upon by the bouncers and beaten black and blue once the couple drove away in their car.
A police complaint has been lodged against the bouncers by the photographers at the nearby Khar police station.
Speaking to Rediff.com, Kelvin Cheung, chef and owner of Bastian, disowned any responsibility for the incident, and blamed the bouncers provided by the Tough Security agency.
"We have decided to replace the agency," Cheung said. "I have been trying to contact the photographers to personally apologise to them as well as to pay for their medical treatment."
"This should not have happened at all, and we are extremely sorry."
