Veteran actor Krishna completes 50 years in Telugu films

A lowdown on what's going on in the Telugu film industry.

 

 

Superstar Krishna, father of Mahesh Babu, completes his golden jubilee in films, though he doesn’t act these days.

He began his career with the hit Thene Manasulu, which released in March, 1965.

He has acted in more than 300 films and produced and directed many others.

Krishna has many firsts in Telugu cinema -- he acted in the first Telugu cowboy film, Mosagallaku Mosagadu, made in 1971.

He also acted in the first film made in Eastman colour, Eenadu, in the first 70 mm film (Simhasanam) and the first Cinemascope film Alluri Seetharama Raju (based on the life revolutionary freedom fighter).

Krishna was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2009 for his contribution to cinema.


Ram gets busy


 

Actor Ram Pothineni's new film Pandaga Chesko is almost complete.

Whileit is slated for a May 14 release, the young actor has more movies in his kitty.

He will be seen in Shivam, directed by Srinivas Reddy, with Aisha Sharma, and Kishore Tirumala-directed Harikatha, starring Malayalam actress Keerthi Suresh.
