After some change in schedule, two much awaited Malayalam films will be pitted against each other this weekend.

Both films feature the young Nivin Pauly in the lead role.

Alphonse Puthren’s Premam has several fresh faces too, and in Shyamaprasad’s Ivide, Nivin teams up with Prithviraj and Bhavana.

Here is a closer look at the two films.

Ivide

Director: Shyamaprasad

Cast: Prithviraj, Nivin Pauly, Bhavana

Shyamaprasad’s Ivide is a thriller, shot completely in the USA.

Prithviraj plays Varun Blake, a cop nd Nivin Pauly is Krish Hebbar who works in the IT sector.

“I have played cop roles in recent films, but this one turned out to be quite different,” Prithviraj told rediff.com.

“It was a great experience working in Ivide and it has been made well,” said Nivin Pauly.

Ivide, produced by Dr S Sajikumar under the banner of Dharmik Films, has been scripted by Ajayan Venugopalan of Akkara Kazhchakal fame.

Eric Dickinson wields the camera and Gopi Sundar scores the music.

Premam

Director: Alphonse Puthren

Cast: Nivin Pauly

The film’s director, Alphonse Puthren, had said that Premam is all about romance and fun. He had made a definite impression with his maiden venture Neram, so expectations are sky high after the songs of Premam became big hits.

Premam follows the life of the character as he goes through various situations and emotions.

“It’s all about romance and situations that we all have gone through at different stages in our lives,” Nivin told rediff.com.

Premam is produced by filmmaker Anwar Rasheed. The cinematographer is Anand C Chandran and the music director is Rajesh Murugesan.
