Amidst big budget Tamil releases like Saamy and Arasu, a small budget one -- Srikkant's Parthiban Kanavu -- released as well. Srikkant is looked upon as a safe bet by all the producers, since his films have done well till now.

SrikkantPost-Rojakkoottam, his films made profits but were not as successful.

Srikkant is now trying his luck in Telugu as well. The film, an Indo-American project, is directed by Razool, who has handled the camera for films like Daud (Sanjay Dutt, Urmila Matondkar) and Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya (Salman Khan, Kajol).

Earlier, the film was to be titled Varsham, but the makers changed the title. The problem arose when the makers came to know the title was already registered. The film costars Apoorva Agnihotri and Aarti Chabria.

Srikkant had to change his name to Sriram when Rojakkoottam was dubbed into Telugu, since there is another actor called Srikkant in the Telugu film industry.

Seventy per cent of the film's shooting took place in Hyderabad and Munnar in Kerala. The rest of the shoot will take place in Austria, though they were planning to shoot in the US initially.

"I know Telugu very well, so I thought, why not try there as well? I want to make a name [for myself] there too. I have been getting so many offers but I wanted to start my career in Telugu with a big project. I am happy I got one. I plan to do one Telugu film a year," says Srikkant.
