Exciting Malayalam releases this week!

Cinematographer turned filmmaker Alagappan narrates a love story against the backdrop of Kuttanadu, in Pattam Pole.

Dulquer Salmaan plays the hero while cinematographer K U Mohanan’s daughter Malavika is the heroine.

“Karthik (Dulquer Salmaan) and Riya (Malavika Mohanan) work for an event management company owned by Rosario (Anoop Menon). They are in love and they belong to different religions. Though religion is never a problem between them, they find it difficult to adjust after a while,” says Alagappan.

Slide# 2 “This is my first full-fledged love story,” says the young sensation Dulquer Salmaan, who has tasted success one after the other. “And that was one genre I wanted to attempt.”

Malavika Mohanan says she wanted to learn film-making “but when this offer came up, I decided to give it a try. It was not easy initially but after a couple of days of shooting, I started understanding my character better.”

Pattam Pole is produced by C Karunakaran. K Gireesh Kumar has written the script and M Jayachandran is the music director.

Aashiq Abu's Idukki Gold takes a nostalgic trip

Director Aashiq Abu, director of Daddy Cool, Salt N’ Pepper, 22 Female Kottayam, Da Thadiya and Gauri in the 5 Sundarikal portmanteau, has been experimenting with varying themes over the years.

His latest film, Idukki Gold, has five veteran actors from Malayalam playing the lead. It releases tomorrow, October 12. “Five friends, who studied in a seminary school in Idukki some 35 years ago, are coming together and they decide to go on a trip to that high range village. The film is about their journey,” says Aashiq,

Michael (Pratap Pothen) is an NRI, who places an ad in a daily to find his old friends. He manages to find all of them: Ravi (Raveendran), who is running an old photo studio in Thrissur, Madan (Maniyanpillai Raju), who owns a cattle and agricultural farm, Antony (Babu Antony), now settled in Fort Kochi with his French wife and Raman (Vijayaraghavan), a government employee.

The cast also includes Lal, Joy Mathew, Sajitha Madathil and Prasseda.

Idukki Gold is being produced by M Renjith under the banner of Rejaputhra Visual Media.

Dileesh Nair and Shyam Pushkaran have written the screenplay and dialogues based on Santhosh Echikkanam’s story.

Shyju Khalid wields the camera and Biji Bal scores the music.
