A scene from Innanu Aa KalayanamParesh C Palicha feels Malyalam film Innanu Aa Kalayanam is lowest point in director Rajasenan's career.

People who refuse to reinvent themselves to suit the changing times, fall by the wayside. This thought reverberates in one's head throughout Innanu Aa Kalayanam, directed by Rajasenan, who once upon a time held family audiences in thrall with films that reflected the reality of the times.

These days, he seems to be digging deeper holes to fall into. If you thought things couldn't get worse than his previous film, Small Family, this one will make you change your mind. Innanu Aa Kalayanam reaches a new nadir.

The story, credited to the director himself, is like a rudderless boat floating aimlessly and at snail's pace. It is, supposedly, about youngsters studying in an engineering college with (believe it or faint), Suraj Venjarammoodu as the principal. As if this was not enough, Sai Kumar plays a comic role along with Jagathy Sreekumar.

It's a good old love story, complete with the usual misunderstandings, and a spoilt brat
who misuses his cell phone during a picnic.

The youngsters, Rejath Menon, Saranya Mohan, Malavika and Roshan Basheer, are very sincere, but that counts for little when the film is hijacked by the veterans, whose clownishness is supposed to guarantee sale of tickets.

Here is the mundane plot: Neelima (Malavika), daughter of a wealthy dad played by Sai Kumar is in love with Karthik (Rejath Menon), a boy from a poor background. Fearing that their financial inequality will become a deterrent to their relationship, Neelima keeps quiet about it and gets her friend Aisha (Saranya Mohan) to help Karthik in whatever way she can.

Karthik mistakes Aisha for a kindly soul and falls for her, leading to much heartache for all three before things get sorted out. Then there is a spoilt brat in the form of Kunjumon (Roshan Basheer), who is smitten by Neelima and will go to any length to get her.

This is a simplified version; the screenplay takes its own time to unwind and makes several unnecessary detours.

This Rajasenan film is an utter waste of time and resources.
