People magazine reports that his boxing-meets-reality television concept The Contender has been picked up by US network NBC reportedly at over $2 million per episode.

Two boxers, chosen from a national search, will have a knockout go at it on The Contender. This marks the finale of the hour-long show which also details their individual stories.

Sylvester Stallone's Survivor producer Mark Burnett and DreamWorks honcho Jeffrey Katzenberg had originally floated the idea.

The network seems to believe in the production team . Burnett's Survivor and The Apprentice are popular shows already.

The Contender is now being called the 'search for the real Rocky.'
