The Good Road’s selection as India’s official entry to the Oscars created a lot of stir, as many people felt The Lunchbox was a better contender.

Interestingly, both films were backed by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC).

Filmmaker Gyan Correa, who directed The Good Road, saw the poster of Ritesh Batra’s The Lunchbox at the NFDC office in Mumbai and couldn’t resist getting a picture clicked.

Academy award-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty, who has composed music for the film, shared the picture and wrote: ‘Saw it outside #nfdc office...and Gyan Correa director of #thegoodroad was all the more happy!’

Ritesh Batra, on the other hand, wrote: ‘hello twitterland, spoke to the Bandra residents assoc, TLB will be Bandra's entry to the Oscars. It ws a unanimous decision. :)’

The good news is that the film can still be sent to the Oscars as a direct entry by its producers.
