When Bollywood STRIPPED for movie posters

Last updated on: August 05, 2014 18:09 IST

Actors in the buff, caught on posters.

We’ve seen Aamir Khan dolled up as a cabaret dancer in Baazi.

We’ve witnessed him transform into people of all sizes and ages for Tata Sky commercials.

We’ve marvelled at his beefing-up capabilities in Ghajini.

And ever since the poster of Rajkumar Hirani’s much-awaited PK came out featuring the superstar in the buff, just about concealing his modesty with a two-in-one, we’re a mix of surprise and curiosity.

While we can barely wait for PK to hit the screens -- December 18 seems a long way off -- let’s take a look at some other movie posters where actors posed au naturel.

Ragini MMS 2

Sunny Leone’s smoking hot body and readiness to bare it is her greatest weapon.

And this provocative Ragini MMS 2 poster (bet you didn’t even notice the spooky figure at the back, did you?) does everything to entice the moviegoer into buying a ticket.

Jism 2

Ditto for Jism 2.

Only the curvaceous model on the poster of Pooja Bhatt’s sequel, a complete rip-off of fashion designer Felix Bendish’s concept, is not Leone but Brazilian pin-up Nathalia Kaur.

Kamasutra 3D

A film with a name and theme like that is bound to attract attention, especially if its leading lady happens to be the controversy-courting Sherlyn Chopra.

Kamasutra 3D went to the 66th Cannes Film Festival as a promotional exercise with this eyeballs grabbing poster of its unclad hot heroine.

Hate Story 2

There aren’t too many bold scenes in the recently released follow-up to Hate Story.

Surveen Chawla’s dare-to-bare pose on its tantalising poster, however, tells a different story.

Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyon

India’s answer to Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain may have sunk without a trace but its bold poster featuring two naked men -- Kapil Sharma and Yuvraaj Parashar -- raised quite a storm.

Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyon revolves around an aspiring gay model working as a gigolo to get around.

Nasha

Poonam Pandey’s model-turned-starlet drops her clothes to generate buzz for her erotic drama, Nasha on its racy poster.

Apt considering she plays a teacher who initiates a lustful liaison with her teenager student.

Kurbaan

The idea of a disrobed Kareena Kapoor and her equally bare husband Saif Ali Khan getting up, close and personal on the poster of Kurbaan didn’t go down well with the moral police.

A political party even sent a sari to the actress’ family as well as covered its poster with seven yards of saffron.

Julie

Neha Dhupia is best remembered for two things. Her quote (Only sex and Shah Rukh sell) and her role in and as Julie, where she plays a woman compelled to take up prostitution.

And what better than a bare-skinned Neha to emphasise on that?

Her attempt to cash-in on Julie’s success with the raunchier Sheesha didn’t find any takers.

Shahid

Unlike the objectifying inclinations of previously mentioned posters, Hansal Mehta’s Shahid is a hard-hitting biopic of a real-life lawyer and activist.

One of the scenes of the National Award-winning drama involves police brutally torturing and stripping the man, played by Rajkummar Rao, till he admits to a crime he did not commit.

And the ugly nakedness of it all is effectively captured in its stark poster.
