This Indra Kumar-directed rom-com is easily one of the most loved films to date.
This Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Juhi Chawla starrer sure was a riot.
The film started as a comedy, turned into a love story, and then launched into high-octane drama towards the end.
A mainstream commercial entertainer, it was a huge hit and is still quite popular on the satellite circuit.
Box office collection: Rs 21 crore
Vidya Balan smouldered and how as the rural seductress in Ishqiya.
Her sultry act had the audiences asking for more.
Spicy dialogues, racy scenes, and able direction by debutant Abhishek Chaubey earned Ishqiya acclaim and moolah at the box office.
Box office collection: Rs 23 crore
A star was born with Ken Ghosh's college film Ishq Vishk.
Shahid Kapoor floored fans with his chocolate boy looks and dancing skills in this entertaining love story.
The film didn't exactly break new grounds but it was popular with school and college-going youths.
Box office collection: Rs 8 crore
Ishaqzaade sounded like it would be yet another dreamy YRF romance.
It was, in fact, a modern and rather gritty interpretation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
Arjun Kapoor and his leading lady Parineeti Chopra were quite impressive in the film.
Box office collection: Rs 48 crore
Kambakkht Ishq got one of the best openings of the year at the box office and the best ever for an Akshay Kumar starrer.
It was largely panned by critics and, after a mixed response from the audiences, started its descend at the ticket counter too.
Still, said opening ensured that this Sajid Nadiadwala-Sabbir Khan film cover its costs.
Ironically, it is the highest grossing 'Ishq' film ever.
Box office collection: Rs 50 crore
Many years in the making, Issaq was as confused and distorted a narrative as one could have imagined.
This film too was a desi take on Romeo and Juliet, but it just got lost in translation.
One imagined that at least Prateik would make the best use of the platform given to him but, alas!, that didn't happen.
An expensive affair, it hardly made a dent at the box office and went down within a week.
Box office collection: Rs 5 crore
A comeback that went sour, Dangerous Ishhq was expected to extend a warm welcome to Karisma Kapoor.
The set-up was just right with Vikram Bhatt at the helm.
However, the audience was just not interested and the mixed reviews didn't help either. The film turned out to be one of the biggest flops of the year.
Box office collection: Rs 6 crore
Yet another comeback affair, Ishkq In Paris took time in the making and was then plagued by delays when it came to its release.
By the time it finally hit the screens, the film had lost its charm and seemed a tad dated.
Even though Salman Khan made a song-n-dance appearance, it wasn't enough to salvage Preity Zinta's return to the big screen.
Ishkq In Paris was a major disaster.
Box office collection: Rs 2 crore
One of the most expensive 'Ishq' movies ever, Salaam-e-Ishq boasted of a superb cast that included Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, John Abraham, Vidya Balan, Govinda, Akshaye Khanna and Ayesha Takia.
The songs were hit and the initial promos looked fantastic.
The film saw a decent opening, but it was all downhill from that point on and it turned out to be a huge flop.
Box office collection: Rs 22 crore
Chances are that majority of you have not even heard of this film.
Worse, hardly anyone is aware that it featured Arjun Rampal in the lead along with Suniel Shetty and Aftab Shivdasani.
Wait, there is more.
The film was helmed by Rajiv Rai, the man who gave superhit action entertainers like Tridev, Vishwatma and Mohra.
Sadly, his attempt to tell a story about roses instead of guns didn't find any takers.
