The list of highest grossing Hollywood films of the year is out, reports Contactmusic.
The top 10 includes films of varied genres and stars, films that set the cash registers ringing throughout the year and earned their producer, stars millions.

10. World War Z
The Brad Pitt starrer British-American apocalyptic thriller film, directed by Marc Forster, raked in over $540 million at the box office and rounds off the top 10.

9. The Croods
The adventure-comedy animation movie earned over $587 million at the box office and figures at number nine on the list.
8. Thor: The Dark World
The Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman starrer superhero movie Thor: The Dark World raked in a cool $627 million at the box office.
7. Gravity
Universally acclaimed space drama, directed by Alfonso Cuaron and starring Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, Gravity did a worldwide business of $652 million.

The sixth installment of Fast and the Furious raked in $788 million in its run-time in the theatres.
2. Despicable Me 2
Despicable Me 2 soared ahead in the list with $912 million in box office collections.
The film sits at number two on this list.
1. Iron Man 3
Robert Downey Jr starrer Iron Man 3 grossed a whopping $1 billion, racing to the top of the list.
