Shakeela, who was a sensation in Malayalam cinema thanks to the huge success of her adult movies a few years ago, is back. But this time, her role is mainly as a director!
The launch of Neelakkurinji Poothu, her debut film as a director, was held in Kochi this week. She has made it clear that her directorial venture will not have any 'masala' scenes but is going to be a family entertainer.
She will be acting in the film as well and the shooting is expected to start soon.
Shakeela played a cameo in the Mohanlal starrer Chotta Mumbai, in a comical scene, some time after her "star status" faded away.This week Mathrubhumi television channel started functioning and it was superstar Mammootty who played the host of the channel's entertainment news show on the inaugural day.
His co-stars in Proprietors: Kammath & Kammath, Dileep and Karthika Nair, were the first to share the screen on the show. The film hits the screens today.
Mammootty was at his wittiest best on the show, even making fun of his own image as a serious man. He talked to Fahadh Faasil, Ranjith and Martin Prakkat, while discussing other films.
Mammootty confirmed that he will be playing the lead in Ranjith's forthcoming film Leela, based on a story by R Unni.Mia, the heroine who was noted recently in Chettayees, has been flooded with new offers.
She has just completed Red Wine, which stars Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil and Asif Ali as the male leads. Now she is playing the heroine in Thanthonni director George Varghese's 6 B Paradise.
"The role of Biju Menon's wife in Chettayees has been well appreciated and in Red Wine, I have been paired opposite Asif Ali," she said.
In 6 B Paradise, her character is in a loveless marriage. The film has Manoj K Jayan, P Sukumar, Kailash and Nandu in the cast.
