Ahead of the release of his much-talked about film Kochadaiiyaan this Friday, May 9, superstar Rajinikanth joined Twitter a few hours ago.
The veteran's Twitter handle has got more than twenty thousand followers and counting.
In his first tweet, Rajinikanth thanked his fans, 'Salutation to the Lord. Va?akkam a?aivarukkum !! A big thank you to all my fans. Excited on this digital journey.'
Kochadaiiyaan is directed by his daughter Soundarya.
"I am happy to connect with my fans in social media, starting with Twitter... I am told that this is where all the best Rajini one liners are," an energetic Rajinikanth said in a video that went viral on Youtube.
Among those who cheered the star included popular Tamil director Venkat Prabhu, politician M K Alagiri's son Dayanidhi and DMK MLA and senior leader J Anbazhagan.
Rajinikanth is now busy shooting for his next movie Lingaa, interestingly named after one of his grandsons.

Veteran singer Asha Bhosle is currently on a tour in Europe.
The 80-year-old singer performed in Amsterdam and Holland over the weekend.
‘Amsterdam concert sold out !Promoter tells me that I am the first Indian artiste to perform at the Carre Theatre :-)’ she tweeted.
She is now set to perform in Paris on May 14.
