Even though we have so many award ceremonies, the film industry cannot get enough prizes.
So now we have the South Africa Indian Film And Television Awards (SAIFTA), which was unveiled by Waheeda Rehman and John Abraham on July 15 in Mumbai.
The event will reward outstanding performers from India and South Africa, and will also act as a cultural exchange between the entertainment industries of the two countries.
Saif Ali Khan, who didn't attend the event, will host the event, which will take place on September 6.
Waheeda Rehman, who is the global ambassador for the awards ceremony, got her handprints done.
“Taking handprints is a new trend and is good for artists. I feel honoured,” she said.
Director-producer Sanjay Gupta of Shootout at Lokhandwala and Shootout at Wadala announced the special screening of his films at SAIFTA. The screenings will be followed by audience interaction with the film's cast and crew.
Suneil Shetty stars in Shootout At Lokhandwala while John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee star in Shootout At Wadala. Shootout At Wadala's cinematographer Sameer Arya and producer Ram Mirchandani were also present.
Shootout at Lokhandwala director Apoorva Lakhia was also spotted.
Producer Mukesh Bhatt will be a part of the jury.
The other people on the jury include actor Boman Irani, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and director-choreographer Farah Khan.
