PIX: Umbrella ideas from Bollywood!
Umbrellas lend a lot of drama to Bollywood's rain sequences. We take a look.
With the onset of monsoons, which is a few weeks away (fingers crossed!) for Mumbaikars, comes the frenzied preps to enjoy the season as much as possible.
Bollywood has routinely shown great flair in weaving rainy sequences into stories by way of song-and-dance routines, and umbrellas!
And there have been all kinds -- with varied colours, prints and details!

Bodyguard
Kareena Kapoor's dreamy appearance in the overly mushy and wistful Teri meri prem kahaani song from Siddiqui's blockbuster hit is perfectly aided by an umbrella with beaded tassles.

For Akshay Kumar's Sachin Tichkule in Priyadarshan's Khatta Meetha, his umbrella becomes a part of his middle class identity as he lugs it around while going about his day's work.
The Blue Umbrella
The then 13-year-old Shreya Sharma infuses refreshing honesty and zeal in her central character Biniya in Vishal Bhardwaj's screen adaptation of Ruskin Bond's novel The Blue Umbrella.
She is so besotted with the umbrella that she trades off for her bear claw necklace. Even the locals in her small village fall in love with it.
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani
Katrina Kaif holds on to her printed baby pink umbrella, as she shares a romantic moment with Ranbir Kapoor in the rain in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani.
3 Idiots
And lending their own dotty (and colour coordinated) twist on the umbrella are 3 Idiots stars Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan as they profess their love for each other on a rainy night.
Oh what we'd give to get our hands on that quirky little umbrella!
Aiyyaa
Rani Mukerji's spirited tribute to several stars of past eras was a hoot!
This particular one, a throwback to Sridevi's immensely entertaining outing as the fiesty twin sister famously brandishing a transparent umbrella in Chaalbaaz, was all kinds of awesome.
Saawariya
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's indulgent yet ill-fated Saawariya will probably most be remembered for being the big Bollywood debut of Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.
But the ode to RK's grandfather Raj Kapoor with the black umbrella (a la Pyar hua ikraar hua hai from Awara) and the fedora was a nice touch.
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani
Adah Sharma shows off her lacy umbrella in this retro horror, 1920.
Sone Pe Suhaga
This 1988 multistarrer saw Sridevi star along side the likes of Jeetendra, Dharmendra, Nutan, and his costar of many films Anil Kapoor.
How totally adorable does that shade of pink look!
Nerolac ad
One of the most prolific names in commercials too, King Khan lends his star power to further the cause of Nerolac paints with a very colourful umbrella and his last monster hit Chennai Express.
