Take a look at the singer's two-bedroom flat in suburban Mumbai.
Dentist-turned-singer/actor Meiyang Chang, who rose to fame with his stint in Indian Idol and went on to star in Badmaash Company along side Anushka Sharma, Shahid Kapoor and Vir Das, moved into his spacious flat a little over a year ago.
Covering an area of 1,300 square feet, the flat is located on the 15th floor, in Malad, a western Mumbai suburb, and has been decorated by Chang and his mum.
"This is my dream house, but not the dream location," Chang says candidly.

"I didn't want to overdo it because I like simple designs, something that will make me feel at home.
"If I had appointed an interior decorator to do the job, the flat would end up looking like a hotel. I have taken some inspiration from a friend’s place for my new pad," Chang reveals.

This African lady statue (next to the door, left), Chang tells us, was gifted by an organiser when he travelled to South Africa to perform with musician duo Salim and Sulaiman Merchant for FIFA world cup in 2010.

"I didn't want a typical glass table for my dining space so I got this one that came with chairs and a bench.
"I liked the concept of bench. Also, I liked the idea of collapsible table because it doesn't occupy too much space. Plus, it doubles up as a study table too when folded half."

All wall hangings and artifacts have been picked up by Chang and his mum during their several travels to other cities and countries.
This wooden cabinet makes for a functional as well as decorative addition to a modern home.

Chang's bedroom is just as simple and tastefully done as the rest of his house.
A wooden bed sits next to wall-to-wall French windows overlooking the highway outside.

"My mom wanted me to keep the kitchen simple as I don't cook and I am barely at home.
"But I thought I should have a full fledged kitchen for her to cook whenever she visits me from Dhanabd, and also for when friends drop by.
"I had seen this combination of purple and silver somewhere and decided to incorporate it in my kitchen."

"I am a finicky person and want all the comforts at home even though I spend little time here. In fact, this was the first place that my mother and I saw and we liked it instantly," says Chang.

A huge fan of comic book characters, Chang was gifted the Batman painting (seen bang in the middle of the wall here) by a friend.

"I felt this was the right place for my piano.
"Although I don't know to play it, I always thought I should have one at my place for jamming sessions with my friends (smiles)," he confides.

The house is pretty much the same except for a few changes -- we have included the small study in the living area to make it large.
"I like wooden texture a lot so you can see lots of woodwork in my house.
"In future, if I actually have time and patience for renovation, I would like to get wooden flooring in here.
"When I bought this place, I had just come from Greece, and hence obsessed with white," the singer says.

The singer is a big fan of bookshelves too, as is evident by this corner.
"I don't mind extending the shelf to the entire wall. I like houses with wall-to-wall bookshelves with lots of books," he says.
