PIX: Beyonce, J-Lo, Miley Cyrus cook up a storm at MTV awards!

Bringing you all the craziness that went down at the recently concluded show!

All the hitmakers and troublemakers of the American music business made headlines -- with big wins and freshly-minted red carpet-onstage shenanigans -- at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, held in Inglewood, California, on August 24.

Queen Bey (formally known as Beyonce) was arguably the star of the night with her magnificent 20-minute performance and the much regarded Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

The award essentially acted as the VMA's 'Lifetime Achievement Award'.

Beyonce and husband, Jay Z won the award for Best Collaboration too.

Taylor Swift

Pop star Taylor Swift, who took to the stage to perform on her newest single Shake it off, arrived on the red carpet in a striking bodysuit.

Miley Cyrus

Twenty one-year-old Miley Cyrus, who returned to the prize-giving a year after causing a stir with her raunchy routine with Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke, was all about the message this year.

She chose to use her Video of the Year acceptance speech for Wrecking Ball to pay tribute to homeless youths.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry, who arrived dressed as Britney Spears circa 2001, won best Female Video for Dark Horse ft Juicy J, beating Lorde's Royals and Beyonce's Partition.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande is seen here accepting her Best pop song award for her single Problem from Dumb and Dumber To stars Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels.

She also, alongside Nicki Minaj and Jessie J, kicked off the ceremony with Grande singing her hit Break Free, followed by Nicki Minaj giving a jungle-themed performance of her new track Anaconda.
