How far would you go if you were a fan of Shah Rukh Khan?

Neha Kakkar, a former Indian Idol contestant, decided to croon an anthem dedicated to the superstar, with lyrics written by her brother Tony.

A chorus singer for films like Blue, Not A Love Story and Meerabai Not Out, Neha also hopes this may be her big ticket to fame.

'I wanted to express my love to Shah Rukh'

"I have been a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan since my childhood," she says. "My love for him kept on growing with his films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Rab De Bana Di Jodi.

"I wanted to express my love to him, and as I am a singer, what better way than singing? My brother Tony Kakkar thought that he could help me so he wrote, composed, and produced the Shah Rukh Khan anthem."

'That was a huge thing for me that Shah Rukh heard the song and loved it'

After listening to the song, Shah Rukh Khan promoted it himself on his social networking site, Twitter.

Says an overwhelmed Neha: "That was a huge thing for me that Shah Rukh heard the song and loved it."

She hasn't heard from the superstar but the thought of meeting him "makes me go weak at the knees," she says.

'If you have to be in this field, you have to really plead for work and I did not do that'

Participating in Indian Idol has not translated into any work in playback singing, but this is her own fault, she says.

"All the singers who have come out from Indian Idol go to the producers and music directors and beg for work, but I have not gone to anyone asking for work. If you have to be in this field you have to really plead for work and I just did not do that. I can't plead with people," says Neha, who was born in Rishikesh and spent her growing up years in Delhi until Indian Idol happened to her at 16.

She was hoping that since her brother is a composer, she would get a big break from there. "We did cut a music album, Romeo Juliet and the song Mohabbat Hai became a bit famous because of which I got my first Kotak Mahindra jingle Mera jaisa koi mere zindagi main aaye."

'My earning is mostly from my stage shows'

Neha has also sung a song in a Kanada and a Telugu film.

It's the stage shows that sustain her and allow her to live in an expensive city like Mumbai. "My earning is mostly from my stage shows. I do lots of shows all over India and a few shows abroad too. I do about 11 to 12 shows a month, which takes care of my expenses. My brother manages my shows; he has been doing it since my childhood."
