Kannada movies Savari 2 vs Pungidaasa this weekend

Two Kannada films will vie for your attention this weekend.

Jacob Varghese who had made its prequel and Prithvi directs Savari 2.

Pungidaasa is directed by Srinath who had earlier had made Rambo.

Here's taking a look at just what these films have to offer to the audiences.

Savari 2

Cast:  Srinagara Kitty, Shruthi Hariharan, Girish Karnad, Karan Rao, Madhurima

Savari 2, like its prequel, is a road film.

While Savari was about two guys on bikes, this one is about three strangers travelling by car with each one of them having a different purpose.

Srinagara Kitty played a petty thief with no family in the first part.

In the sequel he plays a similar character albeit one who not only has a family but also a girlfriend who is the daughter of a home minister.

Yet he remains a thief looking to make a quick buck.

In Savari 2, Kitty's character hopes to marry rich 'settle down'.

He then hatches a plot make big bucks -- as much as Rs 300 crore -- when he meets characters played by Girish Karnad and Karan Rao.

Jacob Varghese directs and produces this film that has been shot in Chickmagalur, Kukke Subramanya, Kumta and Kemmanagundi.

Manikanth Kadri has composed the music.

Pungidaasa

Cast: Komal Kumar, Asma, Sowcar Janaki, Sudarshan, Tabala Nani, B C Patil, Rajendra Karanth, Bullet Prakash

Pungidaasa (snake charmer) promises to be a wholesome family entertainer with a sufficient dose of comedy.

According to Komal, the film takes a liberal view on love and relationships.

Speaking about his character, Komal says:

"I play an instigator in the movie with a good purpose.

"My role is also that of an intelligent guy who induces a fight in the family but unites them when a property dispute arises between the family members."

Asma, who hails from Mumbai and makes her debut with this film, plays a shy and a simple girl.

Pungidaasa has five songs all of which have become chartbusters.

Murali who had choreographed the popular song Pyarge Aagbithaite has worked on all the numbers in the movie.

A retro song featuring Sowcar Janaki and Sudarshan has also become immensely popular

Komal has donned the attire of a Kathakali performer in the film. Farhan Roshan has composed the music.
