Host Baba Siddique gives tells us how warring superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan patched up at his Iftar party.
Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique has every reason to smile.
After all, he was instrumental in finally bringing together Bollywood’s warring superstars, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, at his Iftar party held over the weekend.
“I am really thankful to Allah for making this happen,” he said. “It was really an emotional moment for us. I don’t think Shah Rukh and Salman had anything against each other.”
For those who don’t know, Iftar refers to the evening meal when Muslims break their fast during the month of Ramzan. The time for breaking the fast was 7:22pm, and therefore it was mandatory for both Shah Rukh and Salman to be present at that time.
“Both the actors had to be present at the same time and they were aware about the other’s presence when I had sent out the invitations,” Siddique continued.
Shah Rukh arrived first, and was sitting with the guests when Salman entered the venue.
“I went to receive Salman and took him to meet the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and other members of the Congress Party,” Siddique said. “Shah Rukh was also present there, so Salman patted his shoulder and they greeted each other with a hug and wished each other Ramzaan Mubarak. All the guests were happy to see them together. It was a big moment and I am happy that it happened in the holy month of Ramzan.”
Shah Rukh chatted with Salman’s father Salim Khan for half an hour after that.
Later, SRK tweeted about the incident: ‘Finally u realize turning the page is the best feeling in the world, becos there is so much more to the book than the page u were stuck on.’
