Exciting Malayalam releases this Christmas!

This year, there are three high-profile Christmas releases: Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam (releasing today, December 19), Lal Jose’s Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal and Sathyan Anthikkad’s Oru Indian Pranayakatha (both releasing tomorrow on December 20).

Here is a closer look at the three films.

Drishyam

Directir: Jeethu Joseph

Cast: Mohanlal, Meena

Mohanlal plays an ordinary villager from a hill town called Rajakkad, in director Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam.

His character, George Kutty, is busy with a number of small time business ventures. He is not much educated and lives a happy family life with his wife Rani (Meena) and daughters (played by Ansiba and Esther).

Their happiness is interrupted by an incident and the film is about how they tackle the crisis.

Drishyam has been produced under the banner of Ashirvad Cinemas.

Sujith Vaassudev is the cinematographer. Anil Johnson and Vinu Thomas are the music directors. 

Oru Indian Pranayakatha

Director: Sathyan Anthikkad

Cast: Fahadh Faasil, Amala Paul

It’s the dream team with veteran director Sathyan Anthikkad joining forces with two young sensations, Fahadh Faasil and Amala Paul.

Aymanam Sidharthan (Fahadh Faasil) is a local politician who hopes to become big some time in his life, but faces some setbacks in his political career. He meets Irene (Amala Paul), a Canadian citizen with roots in Kerala.

Oru Indian Pranayakatha has been produced by Central Pictures.

Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram is the scenarist. Pradeep Nair is the cinematographer and the music has been composed by Vidyasagar.

Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal

Dileep in Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal

Director: Lal Jose

Cast: Dileep, Rima Kallingal

Lal Jose and Dileep have made several successful films in the past and Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal is their seventh film together.

Aby (Dileep) is an ad filmmaker about to be married. The film is about the seven nights before his wedding.

Rima Kallingal plays his ex-girlfriend now married to a techie, played by Murali Gopi.

Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal is produced by Small Time Cinema and L J Films.

The scriptwriter is James Albert, cinematography is by Pradeesh Varma and the music is composed by Prashant Pillai.
