Anjali Menon on her directorial debut film Bangalore days

Expectations are high for Bangalore Days, but its director Anjali Menon is relaxed. The film has some of the hottest young actors and is slated to hit cinemas on May 23.

Anjali shot to fame as the director of Manjadikkuru and the short film Happy Journey in the Kerala Café anthology. She has also scripted last year’s hit Ustad Hotel, directed by Anwar Rasheed.

Fahadh Faasil, Dulquer Salmaan, Nivin Pauly, Nazriya Nazim, Nithya Menen, Isha Talwar and Parvathy star in Bangalore Days.

In a chat with rediff.com, Anjali Menon talks about Bangalore Days.

After the nostalgic Manjadikkuru, why did you set your new film in Bangalore?

Every Malayali has a different concept of Bangalore. For us, it is not just another city but much more.

It’s a place where you achieve something, have a great weekend or even fall in love.

While Kerala is regarded as more conventional, Bangalore gives more scope to dream big.

What is the film about?

It is about how Bangalore changes the lives of three cousins, Arjun (Dulquer Salmaan), Divya (Nazriya Nazim) and Kuttan (Nivin Pauly). I can’t reveal more about the story right now.

What was it like shooting with young stars from the industry?

It was a thrilling experience and I loved shooting this one.

The story is really young and they are all extremely fun people to work with.

They displayed wonderful chemistry on and off the screen.

You have hit director Anwar Rasheed as the producer, and Neelakasham Pachakkadal Chuvanna Bhoomi director Sameer Thahir as the cinematographer. How did they contribute?

It was wonderful having Anwar and Sameer with me.

Anwar is really supportive as a producer and we have earlier worked together in Ustad Hotel.

Sameer became part of the team because I was extremely impressed with his earlier work as a cinematographer.
