Shahid Kapoor not playing a Sikh in Rangoon

Shahid Kapoor is longer playing a turbaned Sikh in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon.

According to sources, that was the original plan.

"Shahid has never played a Sardar before and it was felt he would look dapper in a turban. But then a whole lot of stars like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar have appeared on screen as a Sardar. So Vishal Bhardwaj dropped the idea of casting Shahid as a Sardar," says a source.

Sasha's role has now been altered.

Apparently, Shahid will now play a Muslim character as it was important to cast him in a culture-specific role.

According to a source in know, the film is a love triangle and has three people from three different backgrounds.

Apart from Kapoor, Rangoon stars Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan.
