Seeing DOUBLE of Kangana, Bipasha, Sunny!

May 22, 2015 15:08 IST

Playing it two times over!

Bollywood has given us some fantastic double roles. And heroines have contributed a great deal to this.

This Friday, Kangana Ranaut will add to the list, as she features in Tanu Weds Manu Returns in a double role.

Going by early reviews, she's got it right once again.

Here's looking at the recent female double roles that we've seen in the movies.

Jacqueline Fernandez, Roy

Earlier this year, Jacqueline Fernandez was seen in a double role in Roy.

But this is probably the most confusing double role play that Bollywood has witnessed in a long time.

Though Jacqueline tried to differentiate her two characters, abstract direction meant that audiences wasn't always sure which of the two Jacquelines was on screen.

Sunny Leone, Ek Paheli Leela

First-time director Bobby Khan tried to bring out two different sides of Sunny Leone in Ek Paheli Leela.

To her credit, Sunny approached both parts with conviction and delivered her best as a hot-shot model as well as a fiery rustic girl from 300 years ago.

Bipasha Basu, Alone

Bipasha Basu played double roles quite often.

The most recent one was in Alone, where she played conjoined twins.

Though this element formed a small part of the narrative, what was interesting was the split personality factor that she brought on display while playing both good and evil sister.

Priyanka Chopra, What's Your Raashee?

Priyanka Chopra played as many as 12 roles in this Ashutosh Gowariker affair, where she had to enact the part of a young woman on the basis of characteristics of the 12 Zodiac signs.

The film failed commercially and it is a pity that Priyanka's credible act was forgotten.

Deepika Padukone, Chandni Chowk To China

Deepika Padukone began her Bollywood career in a double role for Om Shanti Om, but the two characters did not meet in the film at all.

The film was a big hit, and Dips stepped into double roles once again for Chandni Chowk To China, where she played a Chinese girl no less.

Kajol, Dushman

While Kajol has stepped into double role for reincarnation drama Hameshaa as well as a comic Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, her most memorable twin act is Dushman.

The actress was required to play sisters, one was a tomboy and the other was a shy girl.

The first got murdered and it was left to her twin to bring the murderer to justice.

Shweta Prasad, Makdee

When Vishal Bhardwaj decided to turn director, he opted to make a children's film Makdee.

He chose then child actor Shweta Prasad to step into a double role, where she had to play sisters Chunni and Munni.

Both sisters were as different as chalk and cheese. Even though Shweta was pitted against Shabana Azmi, she held her own and even won a National Award for Best Child Artist.

Ameesha Patel, Desi Magic

Ameesha Patel's production Desi Magic is slated to release soon.

In the film, Ameesha plays a fiery Punjabi girl, as well as a free-spirited gal.

The teaser of the film is out. Let's wait and watch how the film will turn out.
