Sarat Kumar's 100th film

September 14, 2005 19:24 IST

Unlike some film personalities turned politicians, Sarat Kumar has managed to balance his role as Rajya Sabha MP and film star well. He avoids film shoots when Parliament is in session. And, when not required in Delhi, gets busy in front of the camera.

The actor is now set to act in his 100th film. Thalaimakan will be produced by his wife, Radhika, whose Radaan Media Works is one of the top production houses for film and television programs. The film will be directed by RD Balaji.

Sarat Kumar, who started off as a villain, now has a huge fan following in Tamil Nadu, especially in the smaller centres. This is something younger heroes cannot boast off. With his perfect physique, he has become the 'hero' of the rural masses. To the actor's credit, none of his recent films have flopped.

His heroine in Thalamakan will be the beautiful Nayanathara, who debuted in Tamil in Sarat Kumar's Ayya. If she was a village belle in Ayya, her new film will see her dressed in modern attire.

The cast also includes Prakashraj and Seema Biswas, who plays an IPS officer.

Thalaimakan will be launched on September 15.
