A court in Jodhpur has adjourned till January 8 the hearing on two appeals filed by actor Salman Khan against the sentence handed out to him for poaching black bucks as the film star failed to appear before it.

Salman's counsel H M Saraswat said the hearing had been deferred on account of the film star's non-appearance before the Court of District and Session Judge. Salman could not appear before the Court due to his busy schedule of film shootings.

Earlier, Saraswat had moved an application before the district judge G S Surana for exemptions of Salman's appearance and court allowed the application.

Salman filed one appeal in Bhawad poaching case wherein he was sentenced for one-year imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5,000 on 17
February. Another appeal was filed in Ghora Farm case against the sentence passed by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jodhpur. In this case, Salman was sentenced for five years imprisonment and fine of Rs 25,000 on April 10.

The cases were registered against Salman for poaching the protected species during the shooting of Rajshree Production's film Hum Saath-Saath Hain in 1998.
