Salman, Kareena rough it out in Rajasthan

January 06, 2015 13:41 IST

Kareena Kapoor and Salman KhanAfter Salman Khan handed over his Bigg Boss hosting duties to Farah Khan, he proceeded to the Shekhawati region in northern Rajasthan, famous for its lavish havelis, to shoot the film Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

His co-star Kareena Kapoor and director Kabir Khan have joined him.

Apparently, Shekhawati has none of the amenities the stars, especially Kareena, are used to.

Says a source from the location, “Salman is used to roughing it out, and can survive even on basic necessities. But for Kareena, who lives in the lap of luxury, Shekhawati is a far cry from her lavish lifestyle."

Adds the source, “Not that Kareena has not roughed it out during her outdoors. She shot at the Indo-Pak border for her first film Refugee. She also shot in rugged terrain for Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met -- places where they didn’t even have proper hotels. But Shekhawati is a different experience."

The unit has reportedly set up the comfort requirements for the stars.

Says an eyewitness, “Salman is mingling freely with the local people of Shekhawati, trying to pick up their dialect, eating their food and looking around at the forts and havelis between shots.”

Director Kabir Khan, who likes to choose unusual locations, says, “We have set up amenities and it’s actually quite comfortable here, considering I shot in Afghanistan for Kabul Express.”
