Review: MSG: The Warrior Lion Heart is for die-hard Baba fans

MSG The Warrior

If you want to experience torture first-hand, watch MSG: The Warrior-Lion Heart, says Namrata Thakker.

Spiritual leader-turned-actor Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insaan is back with the third installment in the MSG film series.

Titled MSG: The Warrior-Lion Heart, the action drama is directed, written and produced by the godman himself. Of course, he plays the lead as well.

I haven’t watched the earlier two films, so I walked into the theatre expecting a silly film, and that's exactly what I got.

Add to that, amateurish acting, shoddy direction, trashy effects, over-the-top action and not-funny dialogues.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim plays Sher Dil, a warrior who will go to any length to protect his land. His people worship him and they dance and sing in his praise.

Everything is perfect until he learns that an alien attack is in the offing, which will destroy his kingdom. To stop the alien attack, Sher Dil has to time travel and he does that quite easily.

How he saves his kingdom using his unusual superpowers forms the rest of the story.

There are quite a few subplots, including a romantic angle, but they make MSG too chaotic and annoying.

As if that’s not enough, random scenes pop up every now and then, with songs and crass jokes, making the ride very painful.

MSG: The Warrior-Lion Heart is all over the place. After a point, you realise there is really no reason to watch this film, unless if you’re a fan of the Baba or want some gyaan on vegetarianism, gauraksha and such.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim's Sher Dil uses time travel so effortlessly and so often that he looks like a wizard who has passed out from Hogwarts School of Wizardry.

He even flies, although without a broomstick!

In fact, Sher Dil is so badass that he destroys alien ships with just a bow and arrow. If Legalos (Orlando Bloom’s character from Lord of The Rings) were to watch this film, he would certainly die of shame.

And yes, there's more.

If you thought Flash (the DC Comics character) is the fastest human, you’re completely wrong. It’s Sher Dil, hand downs. He is so intelligent he can read people’s mind just by looking at them.

And Sunny Deol's Tara Singh from Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is nothing compared to Sher Dil who takes on an army of aliens single-handedly and beats them up, which is not as bizarre as the aliens wearing costumes with LED lights and funny headgear. Plus, they speak Hindi!

In a nutshell, Sher Dil is basically all superheroes combined. Sadly, the character is so magnanimous that no film can do justice to it.
