Review: Gabbar Is Back music is worth a listen

April 27, 2015 09:44 IST

Chitrangada Singh in Gabbar Is BachSome songs off the Gabbar Is Back album will keep you hooked, reveals Aelina Kapoor.

Three songs from Gabbar Is Back are already on air -- Teri Meri Kahaani, Aao Raja and Warna Gabbar Aa Jaayega -- giving us a fair idea of what is in store.

The complete version of Teri Meri Kahaani, composed by Chirantan Bhatt is easy on the ears.

Arijit Singh is reliable as usual but it is emerging talent Palak Muchal who proves that there is an alternative to Shreya Ghoshal.

Lyricist Manoj Yadav pretty much carries forward the legacy of Sameer and ensures that quintessential Bollywood romance is heard in its full splendour.

The hardcore Bollywood sound takes centre-stage with Neha Kakkar, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Teflon coming together for the very catchy Aao Raja.

Sahil Kaushal's lyrics like Kundi Mat Khadkaayo Raja, Seedha Andar Aao Raja predictably leave little to the imagination.

The song has been designed for an item number but the video doesn’t look sleazy at all even as Chitrangda Singh ups the sensuality quotient.

The mood turns romantic immediately after, with composer Chirantan Bhatt and lyricist Kumaar behind the youthful number Cofee Peetey Peetey.

It heralds the appearance of Shruti Haasan and features Akshay Kumar in one of his most urban, contemporary and trendy numbers in recent times.

Newcomers Dev Negi and Paroma Das Gupta make the best use of the opportunity provided to them by way of the song.

Manj Musik, Raftaar & Big Dhillon come together for the concluding track of the album, Warna Gabbar Aa Jayega.

This fast paced number contains a line from the iconic film Sholay, but the rest of the lyrics do not impress.

The theme phrase Warna Gabbar aa Jaayega does stick in one’s mind though.

The music of Gabbar Is Back has some entertaining tracks that fit in well with the film's narrative and keep us hooked.
