Sholay seems to be one film that viewers really want changed. When we asked rediff readers which film's ending they would have changed, we were inundated with e-mails that said Amitabh Bachchan's Jai should have lived.
But, that apart, here's a look at the other films they want changed.
Amit Somkuwar: I would like to change the ending of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. The end would be that Aamir Khan loses the race and becomes disillusioned with cycling. He feels that in spite of his hard work, nothing happened. He completes his schooling, and since he is good at nothing, he opens a cycle shop.
He hates cycles but still he does it to earn a living. By then, he gets married to Ayesha Jhulka.
Then one day, a polio-affected student comes to buy a cycle from his shop, and he sees the harship the kid goes through to learn cycling. He gets inspired by this, and decides to become a champion racer.
To add drama, we could make his wife pregnant during the big race.
He becomes a champion by winning the Tour de France where Deepak Tijori (his old rival) is also competing!
The movies rediff readers wrote!
Shreya Chakrabarty: I would like to change Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla should not have died at the end. Both of their families should have realised their mistake of maintaining an enmity for a long-lost cause and should have taken the children home. Happy endings to love stories make them better.
S Mullick: Devdas is a classic, and a tragic story. People always cry when they leave the theatres. The new version of Devdas should end with Devdas being saved by his love, Paro, and true love should win over the caste system.
Dwarkanath Narayan: I would have changed the end of Veer-Zaara. I would have made Priety Zinta return to Pakistan just a day before Shah Rukh gets released from the jail.
Priety should have left a letter for Shah Rukh saying that she waited all those years but god was unhappy and their union looked remote, hence she was returning to her parents.
Raghu Alluri: Since Dhoom is an exact copy of the 1991 Keanu Reeves-Patrick Swayze movie, Point Break, I would have loved to see the same ending. Keanu lets Pat have one last go at the surf board, even though the cops are shouting at Keanu to not let him go. Then, Pat just dissolves in the sea surf and nobody knows what happens to him. Keanu is cocky enough to let him go. The chemistry between Abhishek and John begged for the same ending, that is to let John have a last go at biking away into the horizon.
Shuja Hussain: In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, instead of Salman Khan telling Shah Rukh Khan's screen daughter Anjali that he will get married to someone other than Kajol, he should have married Kajol and let Shah Rukh cry forever!
