Rajinikanth postpones Enthiran 2 announcement

Superstar Rajinikanth's birthdays are usually celebrated with a lot of fanfare by his diehard fans. But his 65th birthday on December 12 was going to be even more special since his upcoming magnum opus Enthiran 2 was supposed to be announced on that day.

Directed by Shankar, this sequel to the 2010 mega blockbuster Enthiran, was to feature Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger as the antagonist.

The event has now been postponed indefinitely.

Deeply saddened by the Tamil Nadu state reeling under the horrific rains, the actor has called off all celebrations.

Siddharth and RJ Balaji spearhead rescue efforts

Siddharth and RJ Balaji were among the first to join in the efforts to rescue the battered flood victims of Chennai.

The duo were out on the streets in knee-deep water distributing food packets and other essentials like candles, blankets and milk.

They also created a hashtag -- #ChennaiMicro -- on Twitter to co-ordinate the rescue activities.

Since phone networks were down, they used the social media to list out the essential supplies, request funds and other relief material, while advising and guiding volunteers to areas that were worst hit.

They mobilized teams and helped the stranded people across the different parts of the city. The even drove around town, ferrying passengers.

Vjay donates Rs 5 crore for Chennai flood relief

Devastated by the floods, the city of Chennai is slowly limping back to normalcy. Relief work is on in full swing and Tamil actors have been extremely generous with their time and money.

While actors like Siddharth, RJ Balaji, Vishal, Arya and Karthi helped with the rescue efforts, others contributed to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Actor Vijay was the most generous among them donating Rs 5 crore. AR Rahman and brothers Suriya and Karthi gave Rs 25 lakh each.

Ajith has been quietly distributing food packets and sheltering the stranded victims.

Dhanush donated 5 lakh.

Telugu actors have also contributed their fair share to help the unfortunate victims. Allu Arjun pledged Rs 25 lakh, while Junior NTR and Mahesh Babu donated Rs 10 lakh each.
