The latest updates from the Tamil film industry.

Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth has signed up for his next film, a Tamil remake of Mammootty-Nayanthara's big 2015 Malayalam hit Bhaskar The Rascal.

The film's director Siddique recently confirmed the news, but other details have not been finalised yet.

The shooting of the film will start only after Rajinikanth completes his current projects, Pa Ranjith’s Kabali (pictured here) and Shankar’s science-fiction film 2.0.

Like Rajinikanth, Shankar has also planned his next film.

If rumours are to be believed, the ace filmmaker will team up with actor Vikram for the third time, after the big hits, Anniyan and I. But there has been no official announcement yet.

Meanwhile, Vikram is busy with the shooting of Iru Mugam (pictured here), directed by Anand Shankar of Arima Nambi fame.

Sivakarthikeyan’s next with newcomer Bhagyaraj Kannan is titled Remo. The project has been delayed as the director was still working on the script.

Keerthy Suresh, who was recently seen with Sivarkarthikeyan in the hugely successful Rajini Murugan, has been signed to play the lead.

The director has roped in top technicians for the film. Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music, P C Sreeram will helm the camera and Oscar winner Resul Pookutty will take care of the sound design.

The film was launched on Sivakarthikeyan’s birthday earlier this week.

Bhagyaraj Kannan has previously worked as assistant to director Sundar C and Atlee.
