Even as Kamal Haasan's new film Vishwaroopam opened in theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala amidst protests and a raging controversy, the film's screening was stopped in theatres in Palakkad and Shornur towns of Kerala following protests staged by several Muslim outifts.
The film, which has been subjected to a two-week ban in Tamil Nadu, was released in more than 80 theatres in Kerala.
According to police, about a dozen protesters were arrested and removed from the premises of a theatre in Chittur town in Palakkad district.
The film was also been screened in around eight theatres in the same district, which borders with Tamil Nadu, without any disruption.
