January 05, 2015 13:20 IST

Aamir Khan in PKActor and hitmaker extraordinaire, Aamir Khan leads the pack!

Having crossed the unprecedented Rs 300 crore mark at the Indian box office, Aamir Khan-starrer PK has become the biggest blockbuster of all time.

This record adds another feather in Khan's cap -- his Ghajini was the first film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark while 3 Idiots followed as the first film to make over Rs 200 crore.

On that note, here's a look at Bollywood's biggest blockbusters of all time:

PK

Box office collection: Rs 300 crore and counting

PK opened to a lukewarm response but it picked up later and held strong at the box office. Director Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan have yet another winner on their hands.

Dhoom 3

Box office collection: Rs 284 crore

Vijay Krishna Acharya has perhaps seen the biggest turnaround ever for a Bollywood director.

After being panned for Tashan, he went on to deliver a huge blockbuster in Dhoom 3

Kick

Collection: Rs 232 crore

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala made his directorial debut with this blockbuster.

The fact that Kick was Salman Khan's Eid release further helped its cause.

Chennai Express

Box office collection: Rs 227 crore

When Shah Rukh Khan and director Rohit Shetty joined hands for Chennai Express, it was a given that the film would be made on a lavish scale, with all the popular Shetty flavours.

The film, also featuring Deepika Padukone as the leading lady, was a runaway success.

It earned the trio their first ever Rs 200 crore outing.

3 Idiots

Box office collection: Rs 202 crore

If 3 Idiots had released today, it would probably surpass even PK in box office collections.

Arguably the best film to feature in the top 10 grossers ever, this Rajkumar Hirani-directed film had found a wide audience upon release in 2009.

The film is also credited as the first entrant in the Rs 200 crore club.

Happy New Year

Box office collection: Rs 202 crore

Farah Khan pulled out all stops with her directorial venture starring friend-turned-foe-turned-friend Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.

Happy New Year went on to do more than the combined business of her last three films, Tees Maar Khan, Om Shanti Om and Main Hoon Na!

Ek Tha Tiger

Box office collection: Rs 199 crore

With Kabir Khan-directed Ek Tha Tiger, Salman Khan missed the chance to enter the 200-crore club by a whisker.

The film pushed Kabir Khan -- who's directed films like Kabul Express and New York -- in the big league.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Box office collection: Rs 189 crore

Expectations were high from Ayan Mukherji's follow-up to Wake Up Sid but no one anticipated that it would go on to become such a massive hit.

After wooing a niche crowd with his debut, Mukherjee won the approval of the masses with the star-studded musical entertainer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Bang Bang

Box office collection: Rs 181 crore

If only its overall content was better, Bang Bang would have made it to the 200-crore club.

That said, the film had a lot riding on it, especially for director Siddharth Anand, who had so far earned in the Rs 30-40 crore range for his previous films (Salaam NamasteTa Ra Rum PumBachna Ae Haseeno and Anjaana Anjaani).

Thanks to his star cast and Vishal-Shekhar's chartbuster songs, the film managed to pull in the big bucks.

Krrish 3

Box office collection: Rs 178 crore

While trade reports state that the film earned Rs 178 crore, Hrithik Roshan and Co claim the figure is as high as Rs 245 crore.

Even if we go by trade figures, Roshan Sr has maintained his success rate with Krrish 3 that did more than the combined business of his other films with his son Hrithik: Kaho Na... Pyaar Hai, Koi... Mil Gaya and Krrish.
