A lowdown on what's happening in the Tamil film industry.

 Rajinikanth

Even as the cast and crew for Shankar's Enthiran 2 is being finalised, Rajinikanth is busy shooting Pa Ranjith's Kabali in Malaysia.

The actor was given a rousing welcome at the Kuala Lumpur airport by his fans.

Rajinikanth enjoys a cult status in Malaysia, thanks to its large Tamil-speaking population. He was received by producer Kalaipuli S Dhanu, amidst tight security.

Malacca governor Mohammed Khalil Bin Yaakob later hosted a special lunch in his honour.

The actor will be in Malaysia for a two-week shooting schedule, and will then fly to Bangkok and Hong Kong.

The film will see him play an ageing don controlling the underworld in Malaysia.

Badlapur actress Radhika Apte will play the female lead while Dhansikaa, Prakash Raj and Kalaiarasan essay significant roles.

Dhanush treats himself to a Rolls Royce

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth's son-in-law -- popular actor Dhanush -- has become the proud owner of a Rolls Royce.

Known to be a hardcore car enthusiast, Dhanush has reportedly always wanted this luxurious sedan.

His dream comes true at a whopping cost of Rs 6 crore, with an additional 1.72 crore for paperwork.

The talented actor is slowly becoming one of the most successful producers of Tamil cinema. After the spectacular success of Kaaka Muttai, his latest production venture Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nayantara, has been declared a super hit.

Dhanush now joins the elite group in Tamil cinema, comprising of music composer AR Rahman, director Shankar and actor Vijay, who also own a Rolls Royce.

Namitha ready for second innings

The sizzling Namitha has been missing in action for quite a while now.

She was last seen in the 2011 Tamil film, Ilaignan.

She has lost 18 kilos in the last three months, and is looking like a million bucks. She has signed up Malayalam film Pulimurugan that features Mohanlal in the lead.

Namitha is all praise for the Sakshi Wellness Clinic that she claims helped her shed the extra weight.
