The 40th edition of Toronto International Film Festival drew to a close on September 20.

Canadian-Irish drama Room, directed by Lenny Abrahamson and written by Emma Donoghue, won the People's Choice Award.

Meanwhile, Winter on Fire, based on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, was awarded the Grolsch People's Choice Documentary trophy and Canadian filmmaker Alan Zweig was awarded the inaugural Toronto Platform Prize for his movie Hurt (about iconic Canadian runner Steve Fonyo)/

The TIFF 2015 closing ceremony was also briefly surrounded in controversy when Polish director Marcin Wrona, whose film Demon premiered at the Festival last week, was found dead in a hotel room in Poland.

His body was found on Friday night, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Polish police are currently investigating the death, according to family friend and publicist Jim Dobson.
