'I am not interested in doing all this just for the sake of it.'
"I miss eating at my favourite restaurants so much! I want to eat Chinese and Mughlai food!" Ridhi Dogra exclaims to Ronjita Kulkarni/Rediff.com.
"Since I live alone, I have to constantly ask my mother for recipes and make that, but they are not turning out very well," she adds with a laugh.
She is lucky to have her brother live in the same building as hers, with a live-in house-help, to sort out her food woes.
Ridhi is also missing going to the movies.
"Watching a movie in a cinema hall is a huge thing for me. I love it! It is a big part of my week," she says.
She misses working as well.
"I was meant to start shooting for my next Web series for Alt Balaji, Married Woman. We had to start shooting in April in Delhi. I don't know what will happen," she says.
But Ridhi is happy that viewers are getting a chance to watch her Web series Asur, a thriller co-starring Arshad Warsi, Barun Sobti, Sharib Hashmi and Anupriya Goenka.
"People attached to a project is very important to me. That's the first thing I look for because if the team is not on the same page as you, it can fall flat," Ridhi explains.
"I had been getting many offers, but either something had nudity or sex or abusive language. While I am okay with that, the work I've done in television has been quite intense. One has to emote to get people's attention, and not just use abusive language... unless, of course, it is essential for your role," she says.
"I am not interested in doing all this just for the sake of it," she adds.
She enjoyed her stint with Arshad Warsi and narrates how they broke the ice.
"My first scene with him was in the night, and I was on set with him and Sharib (Hashmi). Both of them have such impeccable comic timing! I told that it's very difficult to stand there and be serious because they have the best comic timing ever."
So how is Ridhi spending her time during the national lockdown?
"Since I live alone, I have to do a lot of housework. I am a stickler for cleanliness, so I cannot go even a day without cleaning my house. Also, I meditate a lot as well as read," she says.
Ridhi likes her television time too.
"I watch anything that is made well. I don't have a genre that I like. I enjoyed Sacred Games as much as I enjoyed Made In Heaven or Delhi Crime. The genre doesn't matter, but it should engage me," she says.
So what are her favourite shows? Ridhi gives her recommendations:
Jamtara.
"It has great performances. The way the story moves is very exciting."
Taj Mahal 1989.
Both Jamtara and Taj Mahal 1989 are very earthy and massy.
"Taj Mahal 1989 is very nostalgic because it shows the 1990s India. It's nice to see something simple. Plus, they have given an urban angle to it."
Special Ops
"I haven't finished it yet, but from whatever I saw, I think they have done a fabulous job."
Asur
"It is got all the right thrills. Plus, the way they have combined mythology with it."
This Is Us
"It's a beautiful show about relationships, family, friends and love."
"Killing Eve, Fleabag, Handmaid Tales..." she lists. "I had watched Handmaid Tales before the quarantine. It is a slow watch with three seasons, so your 21 days will go aaram se!"
