After playing the Rani of Jhansi, Ms Ranaut will play kabaddi in her next film.
Female empowerment never had it so good in Hindi cinema.
Recent hits like Tumhari Sulu, Hichki and Padmaavat have proven the box-office strength of films featuring female heroes in the lead .
No surprise then that the spirited director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari has put women at the forefront of her films.
Tiwari earlier collaborated with Swara Bhaskar in Nil Battey Sannata and with Kriti Sanon in Bareilly Ki Barfi.
She is now all set to team up with Kangana Ranaut in Panga, a film about family values that also features Neena Gupta and Punjabi star Jassi Gill.
Kangana plays a national-level kabaddi player in Panga, which is a world apart from playing the Rani of Jhansi in Manikarnika.
Ashwiny says it is too early to talk about Panga, but a source close to the project reveals, "Panga is about the importance of the family in the growth of an individual. Ashwiny grew up in an environment of familial harmony and the film is her tribute to family ties."
