Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor will reportedly feature together in a film again after a long break.
The duo created magic at the box office in several masala potboilers like Kabhi Kabhie, Amar Akbar Anthony, Naseeb and Coolie. Their last film together was Shashi Kapoor's directorial debut Ajooba (1991), which proved to be a dud.
Tentatively titled Dogs, the film marks the directorial debut of Mukul Abhayankar. Big B's role in the thriller has negative shades. The rest of the cast will soon be finalised.
Nana gets behind the camera
Nana Patekar dons the director's cap once again, this time for Ram Gopal Varma's production Jumman.
Patekar had made his directorial debut in 1991 with Prahaar, co-starring Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia.
Jumman will be a musical and features Patekar himself as a butcher. Patekar might opt for a stubble or a bald look for his character.
The actor, who recently featured in Varma's Bhoot, is also contemplating an interpretation of Girish Karnad's play Hayavadana.
Sunny Deol revives Gandhi
Launched in September 2001, the shooting of Sunny Deol's home production Gandhi was stalled after 40 per cent of the film was completed.
Deol reportedly plans to revive Gandhi and complete it in three months. The actor is aiming at a November 2003 release.
Directed by Guddu Dhanoa, Gandhi, earlier titled Devaa, stars Deol and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra.
Dhanoa is now busy with the post-production of his new film Hawa. Hawa revolves around a mother (played by Tabu) and her two children trapped in spooky surroundings.
Said to be a remake of Sidney J Furie's The Entity, Hawa is scheduled for a July 4 release.
Virendra Razdaan passes away
Actor Virendra Razdaan died of stomach cancer in Mumbai's suburban hospital on June 13. He was 53.
Razdaan had been undergoing treatment for the cancer for the last one month.
Son of a sufi musician, he became well-known for the role of Vidur in B R Chopra's popular television series Mahabharat. He also played Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in Richard Attenborough's Gandhi.
Trained under Ibrahim Alkaji of the National School of Drama, Razdaan also acted in B R Chopra's Kal Ki Awaaz and TV serials like Junoon and Aurat.
He began his career as a theatre artiste at the age of 12. He is survived by his wife Usha and two sons, Harsh and Bani.
