Both are hunks. Both have had female fans drool over them for years now.
While one is still footloose, the other turned papa less than a year ago.
Now, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar will bond together on-screen for the first time in producer Sajid Nadiadwala's Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. The film, which is said to be a comedy, will be directed by David Dhawan under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandsons.
The shooting for the film will begin in July.
Mujhse Shaadi Karogi is scripted by Anees Bazmee who, with Dhawan, has delivered hits like Aankhen (Govinda, Chunky Pandey, Raageshwari, Ritu Shivpuri), Shola Aur Shabnam (Govinda, the late Divya Bharti) and Bol Radha Bol (Rishi Kapoor, Juhi Chawla).
Basu signs Sonali
Sonali Bendre refuses to become a sit-at-home spouse after her marriage to Goldie Behl (Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai) last November. She has, however, become more choosy about her roles.
For now, she is playing the main lead in Amol Palekar's forthcoming Marathi flick Anahat.
She will also be seen in Basu Chatterjee's (Rajnigandha, Piya ka Ghar, Baton Baton Mein, Manzil, Chitchor) untitled flick which, claims the grapevine, is a remake of a hit Bengali film. The rest of the film's cast is yet to be finalised.
Dev Anand's ambitions
Nothing can faze Dev Anand, especially not a small aberration like a flop (Love In Times Square) or, for that matter, a series of flops.
The indomitable actor-filmmaker is planning his next movie to be produced under his banner, Navketan.
His newest film, he says, will be based on the life of Pandit Ravi Shankar and his illegitimate daughter Norah Jones, who recently set a record by winning eight Grammy awards.
Dev Anand himself will reprise Pandit Ravi Shankar, he says. He wants Nicole Kidman to play Norah and Shirley MacLean to play her American mother.
He's quite confident that once he narrates the script, the two actresses will jump at the roles.
Ranjeeta's comeback
After a long hibernation, Ranjeeta (Akhiyon Ke Jharokon Se, Laila Majnu, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Satte Pe Satta) is making a comeback to the big screen.
She has been signed for Anjane -- The Unknown (Manisha Koirala, Sanjay Kapoor, Tejaswini Kolhapure), which is being produced by Anil and Sneh Mehta. The film has been written and directed by Harry Fernandes.
Ranjeeta will be seen in the latter half of the film as the person who is very keen to buy the haunted house where Sanjay and Manisha stay.
